Ola! The It's-Been-A-While Blog Post

Tuesday, December 30, 2014 0 Comments A+ a-

So, I've been out and away from the computer for a whole month -- yup, a whole month. Been to places, visiting relatives, enjoying this much-deserved and engrandeng vacation and now that I'm back in the metro, I'm promising myself to write MORE. Hihi. I know, I know, I've been promising myself to write more (not necessarily in this blog alone) but nah, my laziness kicks in (again and again).

What better way to jump start the coming new year (and to start fulfilling promises I've made) than to, of course, write a blog post, so here goes! Haha :)

Image Link

I'm no fan of listing my new year's resolution list, since well, I never had one year that I'm proud to say I've followed my resolution list. But hey, every new year is new hope! Haha. So I'm gonna share with you what's on my New Year's Resolution list. Feel free to share yours too!

  • Eat meat once a week.
  • Jog every day.
  • Blog more - like write a blog post at least twice a week.
  • Be friendlier to everyone! Smile more often, meet with friends, and join lakwatsa's haha.
  • Save, save, save.
  • Travel more (my dream escapades for this year: Batangas, Subic and Baguio)
  • Finish at least 10 novels.

The list is pretty short, don't you think? But this'll make the fulfilling part easier, yes? Haha. Here's to hoping that I'll be able to do my resolution list!

Happy New Year everyone! :)
Keep your fingers safe, kay?

NESCAFÉ Cappuccino is the most indulgent coffee I’ve ever had!

Monday, November 17, 2014 0 Comments A+ a-

in•dul•gent  adjective,   /in-dÉ™l-gÉ™nt/
done or enjoyed as a special pleasure

Still being a college student, I only get to indulge myself whenever I had the chance to accumulate enough money from the minuscule daily allowance I receive. And that probably happens every once a month, when the money I saved is enough for an indulgent treat to get me beyond the usual and cholesterol-laden fast food meal offers. With this being, I think that it's quite obvious that a trip to the plentiful (and super kaduper expensive ) coffee shops isn't within my wallet's powers.

And so, ever since, I never got to understand how people can get so addicted to coffees (and how they manage to go to coffee shops on a daily basis), because I'm no coffee-drinker. I always rely on iced teas and chocolates for my caffeine needs. But, I do love the coffee's aroma that I could probably sit for an hour enjoying and savoring the aroma of a freshly brewed coffee (I guess, this is my way of being addicted to coffee). That's as far as I could go to enjoying any cup of coffee though.

However, I do drink coffee when it's not the classic variant (I have this absurd strong appetite for sweet food that I wouldn't eat or drink anything too bitter for my taste) or when it's mixed with chocolate (like the purple variant of Nescafé Chocolate). So when I first heard of Nescafé Cappuccino the first thing surprising about it was the price. Yep. Your own cup of instant cappuccino for just Php 8? Whoever says that no one could indulge themselves in a good ol' cup of cappuccino for that price clearly hasn't heard of Nescafé Cappuccino. With a price that low, you could probably down at least 15 cups to equal the price of cappuccinos offered in coffee shops. And because I am one of those who would gladly and undoubtedly try anything for that low of a price, I sure did check out myself what's indulgent about an 8-peso cappuccino.

To buy a Nescafé Cappuccino, you don't even need to worry about transportation fares, or to worry about if your clothes are good (and expensive) enough to grace the fancy and lavish coffee shops. You also need not worry about your safety, since carrying only a 20-peso bill would be more than enough to buy one sachet plus some hot pandesal to go with your cappuccino.

So how indulgent is my cup of Nescafé Cappuccino?

Yes, you read that right! Indulgence does not necessarily equate to anything expensive. I think that for one thing to be truly indulgent, it should be something that you wouldn't regret spending on later, something that wouldn't hurt your pockets. Because really, how can you enjoy an indulgent treat when it'll get you (financial) worries afterwards? Nescafé Cappuccino is right on the spot to giving everyone the chance to indulge, on a daily basis, without worrying about their pocket's health.

Indulgence is something that you should enjoy as a special pleasure, so isn't it just right that you indulge without exerting much effort? Nescafé Cappuccino gives you just that - the power to indulge yourselves without you: travelling beyond walking distance, wearing uncomfortable but expensive clothes (just to look properly clothed in a coffee shop) and worrying if you look capable enough to buy cappuccino.

Nescafé Cappuccino is so easy to prepare that you'd wonder why you haven't applied yet as a barista. Preparing cappuccino is easy as 1, 2, 3! Pour hot water to a cup, add in and gently stir the cappuccino mix (wait for the coffee foam to show up), and add the chocolate sprinkles. Tadaaa! You'll soon realize that you're so good at this that you opt to open your own coffee shop soon!

What's more, Nescafé Cappuccino makes it all the more indulgent because of its coffee foam and chocolate sprinkles. You don't have to spend a hundred to enjoy your own foamy mustache, because you can make one! Nothing's more indulgent than preparing your own cup of cappuccino in a hassle-free and pocket-friendly way. I definitely enjoyed my cup of Nescafé Cappuccino! I'm still amazed just how a simple stir could produce that much foam. It was also light, and gave me that much needed push but as gentle as a foam could be, unlike other caffeinated drinks that would give you that harsh jolt (as if forcefully urging you to get back to work, saying that this is not a break you deserve).

A legit cup of cappuccino, made by yours truly, for only Php 8! Now, that's an indulgent treat!

Want to experience the same foamy and indulgent treat of Nescafé Cappuccino? Well, make one now! Oh, and if you'd like to add to that a couple of exclusive screening passes to the Hunger Games movie, better join Nuffnang's contest too!

Cadbury Sweet Endings: Team French Vanilla

Wednesday, November 12, 2014 0 Comments A+ a-

With November being the new "hell month" (blame it on the calendar shift), things will be getting pretty rough in the coming days. And more often than not, things get a little more stressful when one forgets to unwind every once in a while.

So you're finally able to cross out one major school requirement from your to-do list? Then what better way to relieve all that tension and stress than to cap it off with a sweet ending? My barkada does that by simply engaging in a laid back chat during a quiet afternoon. To make that sweet ending even more sweeter, we pamper ourselves with the smooth and creamy taste of Cadbury Dairy Milk. Now that's a sweet ending!

And as if that's not the sweetest ending we could get, Nuffnang and Cadbury have tied up yet again to offer their latest, sweetest ending for my Cadbury barkada -- exclusive screening passes for the barkada movie of the year, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay (Part 1). And all we had to was answer this easy-breezy question: "Is your barkada #TeamFrenchVanilla or #TeamChocolateMousse?".

Although we would undoubtedly go for any Cadbury Dairy Milk variant, my barkada is definitely Team French Vanilla. You see, we get to taste two luscious flavors in one delectable bite! It's definitely the best companion to a tranquil afternoon chat with friends since it has the light exquisite taste of a vanilla cream-filled chocolate. Plus, it's the closest, and definitely the sweetest, that we can get to having a taste of France for the price of Php 180!

Inspired by Cadbury Dairy Milk French Vanilla's exquisite taste, my barkada did this photo showing our most French-inspired pose. It's our impression of how chill and laid back the French people are: enjoying a fanciful cup of tea despite the busy and hustling city life. C'est la vie!

Second Trip to UP Infirmary

Wednesday, November 05, 2014 0 Comments A+ a-

For the past few days, I've been feeling really sick. I have this persistent cough that I have to hide (so uncomfortably lalong-lalo na when I'm not at home) and this irritating sipon going on for about 1 week na. Since I've got no time, (or probably because I'm just too lazy to make the trip to FEU-NRMF hospital) I went to the UP Infirmary for a medical check-up. During a quick research on the web, I've found out that UP faculty, staff and students are entitled to some free services at the UP Infirmary/Health Service. Libre naman eh, and it's very convenient for me since I can go there after class, so I did.

When I got there, there were very few people around. The last time I went there was during my freshman enrollment pa. I filled-up some forms, and the nurse at the lobby did a pretty quick interview and health evaluation. She took my blood pressure and body temperature. I then waited for my turn to see the attending doctor. I waited for about 15 minutes lang

The whole medical check-up process lasted less than 5 minutes lang ata eh. Haha. Basta, it was so bilis! She gave me my med prescription and on top of that, I had to go to the Emergency Room daily, for a week, for my nebulizer sessions 2-3 times a day.

I really can't afford to be sick at this month. I've used up my free cuts/absences allowable for a sem kasi huhu. Plus it's nearly December (our end of first semester in UP Diliman) so I'm expecting the heavier load of academic requirements. So, here's to hoping that I get rid of this cough and colds the soonest!

Aion Plas Chamois: For That Squeaky-Clean Finish!

Wednesday, October 29, 2014 0 Comments A+ a-

Have you ever experienced cleaning any glass surface with an old cloth or cotton, but instead of achieving a squeaky-clean finish, you're frustrated with the many streaks and bits of thread-like lints left on the glass? Well, we experience that all the time. So, in our quest of finding a cleaning material that will give us that squeaky-clean, streak-free and lint-free finish, we tumbled upon Aion Plas Chamois.

A closer look at Aion Plas Chamois

WHAT IS AION PLAS CHAMOIS?

Aion Plas Chamois is a powerful cleaning tool developed in Japan's state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. It was even hailed as Japan's #1 best-selling super-absorbent towel for its top quality and high performance. Here are just some of the reasons why Aion Plas Chamois is Japan's #1:

  • CAN EASILY BE DRAINED - Unlike regular towels or clothes, Aion Plas Chamois can be easily drained by squeezing. Other towels, although already squeezed, are still too damp or too wet that you cannot use them again for drying any surface.

  • EXCELLENT ABSORPTION PROPERTIES - Experienced bringing a wet piece of cleaning material and noticed that wherever you go, you leave a trail of water spills on the floor? This happens often with cleaning materials that cannot hold and absorb water. With Aion Plas Chamois, you no longer need to worry about water spills on the floor because it can hold and absorb liquid up to 300% of its total weight.

  • MAKES ONE CLEAN WIPE - While other cleaning materials needed to be wiped at least three times on any surface to achieve that smooth finish, Aion Plas Chamois can do it with just one wipe. This is good news for people who consider cleaning a boring and exhausting activity, like me! Plus, Aion Plas Chamois comes in different colors, so it will truly liven up and put a bit of color in your cleaning experience

  • CLEANS WITHOUT LEAVING ANY MARK - With its soft and fine-textured properties, no one ever need to worry about marks and lints. Aion Plas Chamois cleans without putting a single scratch on your windows, and without leaving any lints.

Aion Plas Chamois has all these amazing features thanks to its propriety patented PVA (Polyvinyl Alcohol) Sponge technology. Aion's PVA Sponge has a capillarity structure of three dimensional network of micro pores, hence, it has an amazing water absorption and water retaining properties.

PERSONAL EXPERIENCES WITH AION PLAS CHAMOIS

To date, we've been a regular user of Aion Plas Chamois ever since we discovered it. Here are just some of the ways with which we use Aion Plas Chamois:

Drying pets: I grew up in a family of pet lovers, and that's probably the reason why I can't remember a time when we didn't have any pets to complete our family. Every weekend, it has been a traditional way of family bonding to bathe our pets. Ever since, after our pets have taken their baths, we would dry them using towels (regular towels people use). This proved to be difficult because of the following reasons:
(1) The towels were too long for our pets that they sometimes touch the floor, getting it dirty.
(2) The towels easily get wet but squeezing them doesn't really dry them out. Often times, we have to use two towels for one dog to dry them properly.

It was actually my father who thought of using Aion Plas Chamois to dry our pets. And I guess that it's one of the best drying materials for any pets. Aion Plas Chamois is shorter than the usual towels, thus, it won't touch the floor while you're drying your pets. Once it gets wet, you could simply squeeze the water out and it instantly becomes dry, thereby providing more room for water absorption.

Even my pet cat gets excited over the idea of taking a bath with Aion Plas Chamois! :)

Cleaning mirrors: Our mirrors, specially the one we use in the bathroom, accumulates so much dirt that it's sometimes impossible to see your reflection. We've tried using tricks we've read from the internet (using wet newspapers, cottons, old cloths, pouring vinegar) but they all proved to be failures. Using them would almost always leave smudges, streaks or lints on our mirrors, which was kind of irritating because it was nearly impossible removing all those tiny bits of lints. With Aion Plas Chamois, cleaning mirrors (or any other glassy surface) was easy-breezy because it cleans without leaving any marks!

Notice how the marks on the left picture (before) were gone after a few wipes with Aion Plas Chamois!

Cleaning cars: I remember one time, when my dad was cleaning his car's windows using an old cloth, he accidentally put a scratch mark on his window. Turns out that the old clothe's size label (found at the back of the neck where you'll see the clothe's size and care label) was too rough for the car's window. Aside from that, using old clothes, or any other chamois of low quality, would require at least three wipes to totally dry the window. This made the car-cleaning more exhausting than it already is for my dad (who loves his car so much that he washes it every day). So imagine his relief when he used Aion Plas Chamois for the first time. With its super-absorbent quality, all he needed to do was a single wipe and the window instantly dried!

Cleaning sinks: Even though we know that it's perfectly normal for kitchen sinks to be frequently wet, my mother insists on keeping our sink dry and sleek. Maintaining our kitchen sink dry was really hard, especially when you're using an old piece of cloth. Wiping the wet sink with an old piece of cloth would often scatter the water - which gets our floor wet too, since the water from the sink gets pushed to the edges. Aion Plas Chamois does the opposite: it absorbs water while it is being wiped on any surface.

Aion Plas Chamois: Great for cleaning sinks and avoiding water spills on the sink's edges!

Drying kitchen utensils: After washing any kitchen utensils, we would always dry them out using any clean piece of cloth or towel before storing them in the cupboard and cabinet. We noticed that this was a bad idea since every time we would these utensils come eating time, we'd spend minutes trying to lift off the lints or cotton waste on our dining ware. With Aion Plas Chamois, we no longer have to worry about any lint or cotton waste left on our plates or spoons.

Lint-free kitchen utensils, only with Aion Plas Chamois!

My Chooks-To-Go Kwelavan Experience!

Thursday, October 23, 2014 0 Comments A+ a-

In the recently held Blogapalooza event at the SMX Convention Center of SM Aura, one of the booths that undoubtedly caught the attention of all attendees was Chooks-to-Go. I guess that bloggers can't help but flock to this fun-filled booth, thanks to the inviting aroma of their whole roasted chickens, no matter how concealed they were, plus their exciting and award-winning game: the Kwelavan.  Add to that their flaming (or rather, roasting) red-themed booth and their equally flaming hot crew (you can achieve their looks by having the Chooks-To-Go diet daw, as mentioned by WhenInManila.com's Mr. Vince). :D

Chooks-To-Go booth

So, upon seeing Chooks-To-Go's booth, I immediately registered and waited for my turn to experience their super nakakaaliw and kwelang-kwelang KWELAVAN. Even if I was still waiting for my turn, I was already thinking up of ways to top the other bloggers' scores. I listened for the crew's tips and guides ("dahan-dahan lang sa paglipad", "talon agad", "sa harap ka sumuntok") while still managing to smile and strike a decent-looking "stolen" pose as there were at least 2 Chooks-To-Go camera men in the vicinity plus a whole lot of other bloggers armed with their cameras. I also had to think of ways not to look too wacky on the photos (while playing in the Kwelavan) and at the same time not to be too mindful of how I would look like on the photos/videos since this might affect my scores and my overall Kwelavan experience (competitive lang talaga hahaha).

While waiting for my turn: I'm next!

What exactly is Kwelavan? In the simplest sense... it's a van full of kwela! It's an interactive gaming console that brings out the ka-kwelahan and kakulitan of every Pinoy. It's aptly named too because the game itself is Pinoy na Pinoy (parang Chooks-To-Go, proudly Pinoy). The game features the newest characters of Chooks-To-Go, ang mag-bestfriend na sina Tom Crew at Chikoy. Kwelavan is also an award-winning game: it has been awarded BEST ADVERGAME and BEST GAME ENGINE during the Philippine Game Festival 2014. How cool is that? :)

So, here goes my kwelang Kwelavan experience: At the start of the game, every player should position themselves inside the label on the floor which says: LARO DITO. You can already sense how Pinoy na Pinoy this game will be. Once positioned, players should imitate the pose shown on the screen (a person standing with both hands up). This is so that the game would know if you will be playing individually or with a partner. The game will then randomize the three different games you will play (out of the five games available). I got: Human Tetris, Chookstacle Course and one other game whose name I forgot, huhu (Jus-Ku-Po, ulyanin na haha). But I'm guessing that the game's name is close to Slice A Chooks.

Ready to play? Pwes, laro na dito!

First task of the game: GAYAHIN ANG POSE!

Register in the game either individually or with a partner by simply imitating the pose

Doing the first task of the game: ready nang lumipad, este, maglaro! :)

After the game has registered you and your Kwelavan partner, the game will then randomize the three games you'll play. I got: Human Tetris, Chookstacle Course and Slice A Chooks

Humas Tetris: Hold mo lang yang pose mo para manalo!

Chookstacle Course: Ready ka nang tumalon at yumuko?

Pag may nakitang chookstacle, tumalon o yumuko agad!

Slice A Chooks: Bago kainin ang masarap kahit walang sauce na Chooks-To-Go, make sure na sliced na ito! Iwasan lang ang sauce - hindi na kailangan yan!

In Human Tetris, we had to imitate three different poses shown on the screen. In Chookstacle Course, we had to jump or duck to avoid the obstacles, this was pretty simple since there were cues like "Talon!" and "Yuko!". And lastly, in Slice A Chooks, we had to slice the chickens by doing karate-like moves while avoiding the hot sauce. Of the three games that I played, I think Human Tetris was the most challenging. I had to imitate wacky poses and maintain my balance while the game is processing/scanning the pose. I was able to fit in all three poses until the hip part only, pero tamang tama kasi yung hip part ang paborito ko sa Chooks To Go roasted chickens! :)

Nag-enjoy na nga ako sa Kwelavan, nanalo pa ako ng prizes! After playing, the Chooks-To-Go crew were very eager to give me my photo, voucher and umbrella. What more can I ask for? Check out my Chooks-To-Go prizes after playing Kwelavan! :)

What's better than a Chooks-To-Go roasted chicken? Edi.. discounted Chooks-To-Go roasted chickens! :)

Thank You Card: Ang sweet ng Chooks-To-Go! Kasing sweet ng kanilang Sweet Roasted Chicken! Saktong-sakto yung photo kong mukhang touched sa sweetness ng Chooks-To-Go! :)

Tamang-tama sa maulang panahon ang prize na 'to!

All in all, Kwelavan absolutely made my Blogapalooza event more awesome than it already is. I also got to feel like an artista because after playing, I was interviewed by the Chooks-To-Go crew! :)
